Still not sure?

We totally get it. It can be scary to venture into the unknown world of complimentary medicine.
But here at With Marissa, we are committed to making your journey as seamless as possible. We have addressed all our commonly asked questions, so you can step into the process with confidence and peace of mind.

Let us guide you towards a brighter and healthier future!

  • Unfortunately not! As of 2019, the Australian Government removed some natural therapies from private health cover.

  • Unfortunately, as the term 'naturopath' is not regulated in Australia, anyone can call themselves a naturopath without having any formal education. However at With Marissa, we are 100% degree-qualified, having completed a Bachelor of HealthScience (BHSc) in Naturopathy. This is a 4 year degree, grounded in science covering pathology, pharmacology, herbal pharmacology, human biology, chemistry, counselling theory, as well as one year of practical in-clinic experience.

  • It is completely valid that you might feel embarrassed to talk about your personal health concerns. Rest assured that Marissa not only has vast experience tackling these issues, but she always takes a judgement-free, sensitive, and empathic approach to patient care. Whilst how much you share is completely up to you and your boundaries in this space will be treated with the upmost respect, the best results are often achieved with as much information as possible. As a health professional, any and all information you provide is strictly private and confidential. No information is shared with a third party, for example in the form of a referral or shared care with another practitioner, without your consent.

  • If you have a quick, simple, non-urgent enquiry, your email will be answered during allocated business hours. However if you have various questions or are experiencing something that requires deeper discussion, it is likely that you will need to book a follow-up consult. It is recommend that you make a note of things that arise outside of appointment times to discuss at your next scheduled appointment.

  • Absolutely! In fact, naturopathy works wonderfully in tandem with conventional-medicine and there are many safe ways to do so. Before your initial consultation, you will be asked about any current pharmaceutical or supplemental medications, and these will be reviewed prior to any treatment recommendations to ensure safety and efficacy.

  • At With Marissa, we ensure that our prices are reflective of the care and effort put into supporting you and for this reason, no discounts are offered. Throughout your initial consultation, Marissa will offer the opportunity to discuss your budgetary preferences, and will ensure that your treatment recommendations are reflective of this.

  • All treatment plans will focus first and foremost on dietary and lifestyle factors. This may look like optimising the composition of your diet, correcting nutritional imbalances, utilising therapeutic diets, and implementing positive and protective lifestyle changes. Personalised nutritional and herbal supplementation will also likely be used. There may also be an emphasis on functional testing to ensure treatments are appropriate.

  • Not necessarily, however if you have had any recent testing it would be highly useful to supply these results to Marissa. You will be able to attach these on your pre-assessment form, which you will receive via email upon booking. Throughout your initial consultation, Marissa will consider any relevant further testing.

  • Naturopathy works beautifully as a complementary therapy in conjunction with the care of other physicians, and Marissa is more than happy to work alongside your current health care providers.

  • For so many reasons! Firstly, all supplements recommended will be done so with specific relevance to you and your individual needs! This might relate to how they are dosed or the forms chosen for example, some forms of zinc are more targeted to gut health, some forms of magnesium are better for anxiety over others, some forms of iron are much better absorbed. This ensures that any supplements you're taking actually work! Additionally, all supplements recommended are selected from the most reputable companies who have science-backed products and use high quality ingredients. Most store-bought supplements aren't in the correct forms needed, don't have optimal dosages, and contain harmful additives or unnecessary ingredients. High quality supplements mean that you can get the best possible results from your treatment!

  • At this time, we prefer not to work with children. However, feel free to get in contact with us and we can refer you to many incredible practitioners who do specialise in children’s health!
